Dwarf Sag (Sagittaria subulata) is a hardy, grass-like plant that spreads by runners into a dense, natural carpet. Under good conditions it quickly fills in the foreground, and the higher the light, the denser and more compact the carpet.

Planting it
Plant individual rosettes with the roots buried and the crown, where the leaves emerge, at or just above the surface. Space them a short distance apart so they can spread.
Feeding
It’s a heavy root feeder, so use an enriched substrate or place root tabs near the base. Yellowing leaves point to an iron or nutrient shortage.
Trimming
Trim older or damaged leaves to keep the carpet tidy. Left untrimmed, it can overshadow lower-growing plants. Under very high light, the leaves can develop a reddish tinge.
