How It Works
Agent Green initiates an ion exchange, binding phosphate with lanthanum chloride to form insoluble beads that are completely harmless to aquatic wildlife. When dosed into a high-flow area, you’ll see a “smoky” effect appear instantly in the water — the denser the smoke, the more phosphate removal is occurring. If no smoke effect is visible, your water may be lacking the calcium/alkalinity needed for effective removal (a common issue in freshwater systems without calcium buffering).

Additional Tips

• In freshwater aquariums lacking natural calcium buffering, add a handful of crushed sea shells or oyster shells per 95 L (25 gal) to help maintain adequate calcium levels for effective phosphate removal
• In long-established, mature aquariums, phosphate may leach out of rock and substrate to rebalance with the water column after dosing. This isn’t a failure of the product — it means Agent Green has already removed phosphate from the system, and leached phosphate is simply refilling the space. Agent Green remains the only phosphate removal method capable of removing phosphate from both the water column and the media itself
