Anubias Var King (Anubias barteri var. King) is a variegated Anubias with large, glossy leaves that are marbled in dark green, cream-white and yellow, in a “Wagyu” pattern. No two leaves are the same, so every plant is one of a kind and makes a dramatic focal point in the midground or background.

Planting it
Attach the horizontal rhizome to driftwood or rock with aquarium-safe glue or thread. Don’t bury the rhizome, because it will rot. The roots can go in the substrate.
Looking after the leaves
Good water flow over the leaves helps prevent spot algae. Brighter light brings out the variegation but raises the risk of algae. Trim yellowing or dying leaves at the base without damaging the rhizome.
